Climbing allows for a character to traverse a vertical surface where climbing is feasible (GM discretion). A character is able to climb at a rate of their maximum natural movement speed, reduced by -5. The term "natural" is intentional here, as items or spells that increase movement speed do not inherently increase climbing speed. In order to climbing speed to be affected, the language of the spell must specifically address it.
In addition, climbing requires endurance over time. A character can easily climb a vertical distance of their movement speed one time during a turn. For each subsequent action climbing in a single turn, a Strength challenge is issued against the character beginning with an Easy DR value (5). If the character fails a climbing challenge roll, the character must make an additional Strength challenge roll. Failing the second roll results in the character falling from the vertical surface they were climbing.
